What is the most challenging part of accounting?
Making sure everything balances every month. I do not believe in plugging numbers.
What is the most difficult part of your job on a daily basis?
Communication, getting the information from all departments. Never be afraid to ask questions, do not guess!
What is something that an accountant does that might not be something commonly known?
A good accountant manages the risk for the company. Making sure subcontractors are adequately insured is a good example.
Have you ever encountered a job that just wasn't feasible to do and why?
Yes, If it involves being dishonest and you’re not able to be transparent, don’t do it! Walk away!
What skill set does a person need to become a good accountant?
A good accountant is experienced. Making sure they are honest and always do the right thing is key! As Joe Sr. says, I don’t want to be caught with my pants down!
